Hibbert can do no wrong in my eyes. Everything she tackles is magical and further reminds me that she needs to just write up my future husband lol. Her newest book/novella takes on werewolves and werewolf hunters/huntresses. Luke is our werewolf and he is just trying to survive. While out in his form one day the Adofo clan of huntresses are out hunting him. He sniffs one of the women and realizes that his mate is a huntress. Chastity is the youngest Adofo woman in her clan and she is not allowed to hun because it was a fated that her first kill would tear out her heart. Now I won’t say no more because it is a novella so it is short but it is a sexy book filled with a badass huntress family and lone werewolves who just want to cuddle their mate lol. I loved it so much and I am so sad that I have finished all of her books and have to wait for others.
Luke is a jellybean. He is all hard on the outside but the biggest softy on the inside. But he is only this way for way his mate. No one else gets this sweet precious side of him. Luke is so adorable and really I want to hug him. I think my favorite thing about him is how much he accepts Chastity for what she is and does not try to change her. He does all he can to show her how much he wants her.
Chastity is determined to prove herself to her family. She does not believe the old prophecy that she will die if she kills a werewolf. So, when she sees Luke she is ready to do what she must. But, Luke is not like anything her family taught her. The Adofos only know so much so they think all werewolves are vicious creatures. Little do they know and as Chastity learns that is not the case. She is a spitfire and can handle her own. She slowly opens her heart to Luke and I adore her.
With a stretch of lips that could never be called a smile, Victory faced death.
They were fated, after all. They were written in the stars. And once he figured out how to ask a human woman on a date, Luke would mate her and f*** her and live happily ever after as her devoted swain.
He had no f****** clue how to care for a woman like that without breaking her—but he would, he reminded himself. He would figure it out. She was his mate. They were made for each other.
“Why?” he asked, though he had no intention of disobeying. “Are you about to do something that’ll make me want to touch you?” “You already want to touch me,” she said, a smile playing about her lips. It was one he’d never seen before, sharp and confident. “True,” he admitted. “But if this is where you want me, sweetheart, this is where I’ll stay. For now.”
“What I am,” he said slowly, “is yours.”
When Luke had woken up that afternoon with a f***** of a headache and a trashed living room, his first thought hadn’t been to find and flirt with his mate. He’d intended to find and spank his mate for f****** up a perfectly good coffee table with her WWE shenanigans, and also to have a serious conversation with her about how loving couples shouldn’t stab each other.
“I could no more rip out your throat,” he said honestly, “than rip out my own heart.”
“I need your sunshine,” he admitted, his voice soft. “You don’t need my darkness. I know that. But I’ll give it to you anyway. I’ll give you everything I have.”
“Attraction,” he murmured, “is a very pale description of the thing I feel for you.”
“Trying to convince me that you’re not a monster?” she asked darkly. “No,” he murmured. “I would never lie to you, my love. But I am trying to convince you that a monster is just what you need.”
“I didn’t eat them so much as enthusiastically kill them with my mouth. Subtle distinction. Can we talk about this later?”
“You’re not only my mate. You’re my huntress. And you caught me, body and soul.”
