Throwback – Memorable Book That Starts With the Letter ‘D’

It is time for my Memorable Book letter D. My friend Ashley over at Thrifty Bibliophile created the meme Throwback Thursday- Memorable Book That Starts With the Letter…Again, I don’t think I will post these on Thursdays but, I am doing them anyway. I have fun with these even though some of these I can’t remember much besides the name lol.

Divergent brought me a couple that I loved so much, a male character I adore, and an ending that left me so sad lol. I really enjoyed this series though I never cared for the author’s other work. These do have a special place in my heart though. I don’t remember where I bought the books but I do know I read the series first then the movies came out which I did enjoy a lot. I gave the book five stars.

Divergent (Divergent #1by Veronica Roth

Goodreads Synopsis:
In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Final Thoughts on Book

TOBIAS AKA FOUR. He is a big takeaway from this book for me because I fell in love with him. He is amazing, sweet, and treated Tris so lovely. Their growth romance wise left me shook, to be honest. I really thought Tris was a cool protagonist and she was so badass. The plot was intriguing and at the time when dystopian novels weren’t everywhere for me, I really loved it. The characters were interesting and had growth that I enjoyed. It was such an amazing first book in a series and the start to one that I really loved.border-04-06
