It is time for my Memorable Book letter C. My friend Ashley over at Thrifty Bibliophile created the meme Throwback Thursday- Memorable Book That Starts With the Letter…Again, I don’t think I will post these on Thursdays but, I am doing them anyway. I have fun with these even though some of these I can’t remember much besides the name lol.
City of Bones was my introduction to the Shadowhunters world. From this book, I was drawn into Cassandra Clare’s world. I remember finding this book into a thrift store and I know it was a series that had a lot of hype around it. I think it was 2015 and I saw a book challenge that included something that made me choose City of Bones for one of the prompts. I gave this book 5 stars and I adored it so much.
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…
Final Thoughts on Book
I LOVE this plot, world, and characters. Miss Clare really snapped with this series. I had a love-hate with book 2, 3, and 4 but, City of Bones will remain in my heart forever. Clary is one of my favorite female characters ever and Jace is one of my favorite male characters. Then we have Simon, Izzy, Magnus, Maia, etc. The love of my love Sebastian comes from here. Valentine one of the best villains is here. Honestly, this book has it all. We get intense romance, amazing character development, fantastic villains, a magical and fantastic plot and great side characters. The twists and turns keep me on edge and the heart-pounding romances are so beautiful. I am so thankful that I picked this little book up years ago because I have met so many of my favorites since then.
