Throwback – Memorable Book That Starts With the Letter ‘B’

I am back with a memorable book. This year I will finish the alphabet finally lol. My friend Ashley over at Thrifty Bibliophile created the meme Throwback Thursday- Memorable Book That Starts With the Letter…Again, I don’t think I will post these on Thursdays but, I am doing them anyway. I have fun with these even though some of these I can’t remember much besides the name lol.

I read the Clique books in intermediate and middle school. I can’t remember anything about the books besides the characters BUT, I know I loved them. They are super fast and easy to read. Book two is Best Friends for Never. Like all the other books I would deem this book “rich people and their problems.” Which is one of the best tropes ever. This book is hilarious and full of teen drama that just gives me a fun and happy feeling. I picked up the first book in the library and that is where I got book two.

Best Friends for Never (The Clique #2) by Lisi Harrison

In the second book starring Westchester County’s most privileged middle schoolers, the Clique declares Massie a hero for hosting the first boy/girl Halloween party of 8th grade. Massie’s already hired Landon Dorsey, the hottest party planner in the 9-1-4 area code, but her parents insist she has to invite the entire class. Unfortunately that means everyone. Layne is bummed that the boys will be there — she IMs Claire that’s so “DESPR8” — as Claire wonders if maybe a boyfriend will make her happy.Meanwhile, Massie and the Clique are fighting over who gets to invite Derek Herrington. Dylan thought it was obvious that she was the one who danced all night with Derek at the OCD benefit last month, but says “Whatevs” when Kristen gets all weird about it. Fine, she can have him. He was a terrible dancer anyway and there will be tons of guys to choose from at the party….

Final Thoughts on Book

I don’t think I would recommend this to an older audience but teens and maybe young adults who want to reminisce on the fun of your adolescence years. The dialogue and tone reflect the age of the characters so, if that dramatic, social media talk and cattiness is too much for you then this won’t be for you. I happen to enjoy that at times when I need a light and funny read. This book and all the others ARE HILARIOUS. I laughed so much. The characters are actually really enjoyable and I remember enjoying their character arcs and growth. It’s back and forth because they are young people but it’s so funny. There is romance from what I remember and it is cute and young puppy love. They fall in and out of love and the guys are funny as well. I definitely want to reread these and buy them at some point.
