Take Me for Granted (Take Me #1) by K.A. Linde

Publication: April 29th, 2014

Genre: NA Romance

Rating: fourstars-02

synopsis-07

Grant
Manwhore. Adrenaline junkie. Lead singer of ContraBand. What you see is what you get. I make no apologies for my actions, and by now no one expects any from me. I live my life the way I want and as long as it pushes the demons back, then I’m solid. I’ve never needed a chick for more than a good lay. Why would I need just one when I can have a different one every night? Until she walks into my world.
Aribel
Mouthy. Perfectionist. Princeton student. Chemistry major. Yes, that pretty much describes me. Oh, and virgin. But I’m only nineteen, and have more important things to concern myself with. What really matters is finishing my degree and getting a good job. I’ve worked hard for what I want, and do what’s expected of me. I don’t need anyone to get in my way. Until he opens up my world. But if I give you my world, whatever you do…don’t TAKE ME for granted.

Plot

Take Me for Granted is a fun and heart-pounding NA romance. I was very intrigued about this book and I thought I would DNF because it might be cringe but this was so much better than expected. I love how it kept my heart on edge because I never knew what would happen or if Grant would fall back to his old ways when he was with Abriel. The story is about the lead singer in a band named Grant and Abriel is a college student with her head on her shoulder. Grant is immediately intrigued by Abriel and though she won’t admit it she is as well. Over time they become a real couple but it’s not all sunshine and daisies. He still lives a wild party boy life and Abriel is still into her books and coursework. I really loved this plot because although the author keeps your heart pounding there is NO CHEATING. I feel like that type of plot is a cop-out and although there is a scene were Abriel thinks he did and vice-versa there is no legit cheating that happens. This story was fun, sexy, and full of sweetness.

Writing

It was not cringe in the slightest and I found myself laughing so damn much. Abriel is a hilarious character and her and Grant are so sarcastic you will LAUGH OUT LOUD. I thoroughly enjoyed the authors writing my only complaint is the ending being a cliff-hanger. I don’t mind them but this one felt very odd and abrupt. It was lackluster that the father that we heard of so little is apparently back and ready to hurt Grant lol. I didn’t understand it.

Characters

Abriel is SARCASTIC. And she is so funny. I love how dedicated she is to work and how strong-willed she was to not give up her virginity until she decided. But I also enjoyed her growth because she was kind of stuck up at times and made people not like she feel dumb. Grant before Abriel was a mess but a funny ass mess. I liked his growth as a character and how he truly changed his way to be with Abriel. I won’t commend him for waiting for when she decided because any man should never force a woman so, I am glad the author wrote him like that. I also enjoyed the side characters and how fun and real they were with the main characters as well.

Romance

Fun. Sexy. Cute. It started out super fun and full of banter. Then when they got to the sexy moments it turned swoon-worthy and full of banter. Then, of course, they went through hardships but still, we got the funny ass banter. I loved their relationship and how real it felt.

Favorite Quotes
“Belle wasn’t a princess,” Grant corrected me. “Another thing we have in common.” “I’m going to kiss you now.”
“Were you calling for a reason?” “Several.” “Care to share? I have to get to calculus, and I’d really like to get this conversation moving.”
Kisses like that made me lose touch with reality, and I knew that if I saw Grant again…I wasn’t going to stop him from kissing me.
“I, um…” She bit her lip and stared up at me under thick black lashes. F*** me. “Get in my f****** bed, woman.” “Don’t order me around.” I smacked her ass with a flat open palm, and she yelped, her eyes widening in surprise. “What the hell?” “Get in the bed.”
“Yeah, I want to have sex with you. What guy wouldn’t? I mean, I want you here, like this. I want you to stay the night. I want you to just be here…with me.”
“I think you want me there, but you like me here, too.”  Well if that isn’t the damn truth…”I want you any way I can have you.”
“Every time I see you, Princess, I feel better. Every single day, you push away the pain and the memories. You’re my life raft in an endless ocean. You saved me from drowning. You saved me from myself.”
“You think I’m letting you out of my bed now that I’ve got you in it?”
You deserve everything that you have. I love you f****** mouth, and I love how smart you are. I’d never change that because those are things that made me fall in love with you in the first place.”

  1. Fantastic review Kat! K.A. Linde is one of my favorite new to me authors this year and I really enjoyed her Blood Type series which is a paranormal romance and the Wright Duet. I’ll definitely add this on my TBR.

  2. I just found out just now that NA means New Adult! But besides, nice review! It does sound fun when you put it like that. I have to admit, however, reading the line “But if I give you my world, whatever you do…don’t TAKE ME for granted.” was quite cringy
