“There are rare people who will fuel the fire inside of you, who will awaken a dormant passion, who will push you and better you. She alone is my rarity.”
“I’m attracted to people. To the words they speak, to the actions they take, to their full-bodied mannerisms and soulful gaits. I am attracted to people. To impassioned hearts that beat out of sync, the ones that skip a measure, heard in hushed places and violent spaces—I am attracted to people.”
The plot for this series was a really good. We got to really see Connor Cobalt. He opened up and laid his heart bare for us to see. Connor and Rose are in bed with the media and doing all they can to protect the children from false rumors and accusations even if it means doing things out of character. Connor will have to go back to his old ways and Rose will have to adapt to Connor’s old ways but together they can overcome it all. Their love is truly tested and it is enjoyable to see the two most level headed people break. It was hard to read but I feel they needed it to become the best people they are. The writing is just as amazing especially Connor’s point of view because getting into his head was truly amazing.
“Broken souls are mended every day by mended souls that were once broken.”
We got see a whole new side of Connor unlike anything I have ever seen. Seeing him break was interesting especially with so much that happened before. I love his character, his strength, his growth, and everything about him. He is my most unique favorite character that I have read about. He is very assured of himself and doesn’t shy away from being narcissistic. Rose was just as bad ass as before. She is strong but a little more breakable than Connor but we see her really stand strong in this story. Her whole demeanor is sexy, sassy, and sophisticated. They are such a power couple. I also love Connor’s therapist.
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
Their romance is my favorite! The BDSM is truly remarkable and I love it because you can see the authors did their research. Seeing Connor open his heart to truly allow himself to love and to see Rose truly open herself as well was something I loved.
“So long as I may be living, I live with you.”
“We never touched, but I made love to your mind.”
“She fuels the fire in my soul, the embers slowly dying, and she tries feverishly to awaken me.”
“I know I’ve married the right person when words turn you on as much as they do me.” I read deeper into that, as I should. Translation: I could only ever be with you, Rose. ”
“I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart.’” My lips pull higher, into a livelier smile. “‘I am, I am, I am.’”
“Anything else has no relevance. I can’t be what you need me to be. So you’ll have to accept this version or waste your time questioning something that has no answer. I know acceptance isn’t easy when you’re unsure of what you’re accepting, but all I can say is that you’re accepting me as me.”
“Ensemble,” she whispers in French. Together.”
“So long as I may be living, I live with you.”
“I need you to keep looking at me like you’re going to burn a hole through my heart, and I need you to tell me that you love the real me. Every day, I need you, Rose. That’s how I’m going to stomach this.”
“Je t’aime,” I choke, grasping her slick cheek. I love you. “Je t’aime. Je t’aime.”
“I’ve been split open. I’ve been spilled bare. I’ve allowed her spirit to seep inside of me—to remind me, remind me…why I love”

“It was then. That I f*****g knew how much I really understood her. How much I related to the loneliness in her eyes. I felt closer to her in a way that I couldn’t articulate. It wasn’t physical. Or mental. It was spiritual, something I couldn’t shake.”
“My grip tightens, fisting his shirt. “One-hundred-and-fifty miles per hour. No brakes.” His eyes redden. Our gazes are locked, all of our experiences together rushing through us, every moment where we kissed death but never tasted it. Every time we lived life so terribly—so fully.”
This story for Ryke and Daisy is the most gripping one yet. I felt so nervous and anxious the whole story. I just wanted them to have happiness. In Long Way Down Ryke and Daisy are trying to have a baby but it doesn’t come easy for them. It is a lot of struggle and pain as a unit and also separately. Daisy still struggles with PTSD and finding her voice. Ryke still battles with his unforgiving heart towards his dad and the shocking death of his best friend that stop him from climbing. It was interesting to see Ryke’s life on pause for a moment when he always lived on the go. We got to see Lo be what Ryke was for him and it was so beautiful to see how far he has come that he was able to push Ryke to be better. The relationship between Ryke and his dad was so rocky and it warmed my heart to see them start over and Johnathon finally say the words I’m sorry. Daisy finally opens herself and lets her voice be heard and rise above the rest. She finds her dreams and goes for them.
I hear him say a version of this to me at sixteen. At seventeen. At eighteen and nineteen and now at twenty. He has tried to make me feel worth more than I’ve allowed myself to be. All this time.
Daisy and Ryke are wild and crazy. They are the ones who never stop and never sit down. They both were voiceless for a long time and they found their voice. They know their dreams and found their limits. I actually loved seeing the other characters interact with them and realize how selfless they both were. my favorite interactions were between Ryke and Connor because of how differently they view life but how much Ryke means to him was special. I loved Adam Sully and his fate broke my heart and I loved how much their friendship meant to Ryke and Daisy.
“Never give up or back down on the things that fill your soul, Calloway. There is no worse life than a hollow one.”
I really loved how different their relationship was to the other two. Their sex life was completely different but I adored how Ryke handled it. He is a man who truly loves his woman and just women in general. I just have to mention how much Ryke defends women and how he treats the degrading of women. It is truly something all men should be like. I love how the authors portrayed Daisy in regards to the relationship. There is nothing wrong with a low sex drive and Daisy realizes that and her worth are important. These two are so beautiful and they equally take care of one another.
Every day, I can feel myself growing into my own skin, and I love myself more than I ever have. Ryke is a variable in my life that has led me here. I know it.
“There was a time where I tried to contain you from what I imagined was harm’s way, but you helped me realize that I can’t bottle lightning.”
“Then, one day, I realized that you are lightning. You can’t be bottled or contained anymore than she can. And together, you both make a beautiful, perfect storm.”
Sully ponders this by staring at the sky. “Yeah, well…death is relative to those who play with it.” He meets my smile and says, “We’re all a f*****g morbid bunch, aren’t we?”
“Because for the first time in her life,” I say, pride for her filling me, “she knew what she really wanted. And she didn’t need anyone’s advice for it.”
The longer I watch, my gaze blazes, water welling like I may not f*****g survive. And guess what. I’m not shutting my eyes. I’d rather die inside this moment than miss a single part.
“I realized then that I’d never want to be vulnerable with any other man but you. Someone that understands me. Respects me. Loves me—so wildly. You were the only one. You are the only one.”
And I vow, “Wherever you go, I’ll go.” As long as I’m alive, this will never f*****g change.
I lick my lips and say, “Ti rispetto e ti ammiro così tanto, amico mio. Mi hai aiutato ad essere altruista.” I respect and admire so much about you, my friend. You helped me be selfless.
Friends might not be forever, but maybe friends that you view as family have long-lasting powers, destined to stick around.
Lo meets my gaze again. “You’re not living when you’re not climbing, big brother. None of us are going to keep you on this s****y f******g ground.” Connor adds, “Unless you want to. We’ll put up with whichever Ryke Meadows you want to give us, but just so you know, I like the one in front of me the best.”
“You’re going to climb one last time with me, Sully.”
I am the biographer of my own life. And no one can take that away from me.
Lifetimes, days, minutes spent together. As we watch outward. As we watch upward. As our faces warm. We live and breathe in quiet, blissful peace.
