Holiday Reads & Needs (December TBR)

*Not Pictured: 12 Days at Bleakly Manor, Balance, Beg Borrow or Steal, Gods od Howl Mountain, Queendom of the Seven Lakes, Road of the Lost, The Summer of Crud*

Hiya December!!!! So, to complete this year I am going for 10 books and maybe a few more since most are ebooks. I have a lot of NetGalley books so I only ordered three physical books so, I could get through them. I am so excited to get through these books and see what they are all about. Now for the books.

1) Peter Darling

“But when he returns to Neverland, everything has changed: the Lost Boys have become men, and the war games they once played are now real and deadly.” This is a Peter Pan retelling and I love retellings so I can’t wait to see how it will turn out. It sounds so cute, romantic, adventurous, and fun. I really think it will be a 5 star.

2) The Bear and the Nightingale

“At the edge of the Russian wilderness, winter lasts most of the year and the snowdrifts grow taller than houses.” From what I read this will be a Russian fairytale retelling. I am so excited for this because I have never read anything set in Russia let alone a retelling.

3) My True Love Gave To Me

“If you love holiday stories, holiday movies, made-for-TV-holiday specials, holiday episodes of your favorite sitcoms and, especially, if you love holiday anthologies, you’re going to fall in love with My True Love Gave To Me: Twelve Holiday Stories.” This is an anthology of Christmas stories. I truly love anthologies and when I saw they had a Christmas one I got so excited. I can feel that it will be fluffy, romantic, adorable, and my heart will flutter.

4) 12 Days at Bleakly Manor

“Pour a cup of tea and settle in for Book 1 of the Once Upon a Dickens Christmas series–a page-turning Victorian-era holiday tale–by Michelle Griep, a reader and critic favorite.” I just saw this on NetGalley and it seemed like not your typical Christmas story. It sounds intense and like a fun ride and can’t wait to read this one.

5) Balance

“One toe off the beam and their forbidden desires could ruin everything they’ve worked for, throwing it all off balance.” I received this from NetGalley and it just sounded like a fun and suspenseful romance.

6) Beg, Borrow or Steal

“Suspense, great banter, friendship, love and drama: what more could a reader want?” I also received this on NetGalley. I am so excited for this it sounds sexy and fun.

7) Gods of Howl Mountain

“In Gods of Howl Mountain, award-winning author Taylor Brown explores a world of folk healers, whiskey-runners, and dark family secrets in the high country of 1950s North Carolina.” Honestly, need I say more? This will be epic.

8) Queendom of the Seven Lakes

“There are always those who are willing to pay for someone else’s death.” This is a sci-fi fantasy about assassins and a female assassin at that and I can not wait to dive into this tale.

9) Road of the Lost

“Road of the Lost is an epic-quest fantasy that features wise-cracking characters pitted against world-shattering adversity.” Based off of this alone I feel like this will be one of my favorite ones this month.

10) The Summer of Crud

“A deeply disturbing and psychological coming-of-age novel, THE SUMMER OF CRUD explores the complexities of friendships, masculinity, sex, mental illness, and addiction, and shows how the quest to unlock one’s creativity can both inspire and destroy a person.” This sounds a bit intense for the holidays but we all know I am not one to read cutesy stories for long and this sounds so complex I can’t wait.

So that is my December reads. I am super happy about my books and hope to get to all of them. What are you reading this month?
