Since October is rolling on faster than I am fully prepared for, I figured I would update my RIPX books now before Thanksgiving hits. Then all bets are off.
Since I tend to get a bit challenge happy, I decided it would stick to one peril. While I didn’t read many of the books that were on my original list, I managed to find some great creepy reads in some books I already had.
I came across the first of these stories on the recommendation of my sister. She told me they were pretty compelling and she was not wrong. The characters do get a bit annoying but once you start, you cannot stop. The third book in series is due out soon.
Doctor Sleep // Stephen King
I have been meaning to read this book since it came out a few years back. Since I have never read The Shining, only watched the movie (gasp!), I figured I should start there. This books moves away from a scary hotel full of ghosts and turn toward a scary group of vampire-like beings that kidnap children.
The Fate of Mercy Alban // Wendy Webb
I love a ghost story. One combines creepy bits with a few light hearted moments. A plus if it takes place in an old, strange house. These are what Wendy Webb’s books are all about. A plus for me: her stories are set in Minnesota.
