My library hold list and my personal TBR pile has been getting out of hand of late. At one point over the last month I has 15 books from the library sitting on a stack next to my purse. Luckily my librarians let me get away with that kind of crap.
So I did what every book lover does, I buckled down and knocked them out. Here are a few of them.
If you love Ikea and scary-ish books this book may be made for you. After of series of disturbances in an Ikea knock off after hours, the manager gathers a group of employees to figure out what is going on. It is a fun mix of scary and camp and is set up like an Ikea catalog.
The daughter of a rich Chicago is kidnapped by a rough-neck with a soft spot. Things don’t go exactly according to plan and they head up to a secluded cabin in the woods of northern Minnesota. The direction that the book heads in is pretty obvious, but I am a sucker for any story with a shifting narrative.
Chris’s story was not new to me, and I finished the book with two separate thoughts. Chris’s ideas on living simply and closer to the earth were noble and beautiful. Chris’s unprepared-ness was both terrifying and sad. No matter what you think of Chris and his adventures, John writes a compelling biography of a young man.
This came as a recommendation from my sister, she told me I was in for a fun ride. What we have here is two daughters of a serial killer, one is a killer herself and the other a shrink, with a genetic anomaly that doesn’t allow her to feel pain. There is a killer on the loose that is copycatting their fathers crimes. Fast-paced, a tad bit ridiculous and a whole lotta fun.
I am linking up over at Modern Mrs Darcy. Head over there and see what everyone else is reading.
