This is my favorite time of spring/summer. Things are green, the temps are warm, and the nights are still cool. It is pretty short lived, so I try to get out and enjoy it as much as I can.
Since I am happily enjoying the days and furiously planting my garden I am going to take a break from the books and share some of things that have been making me happy these last couple of months.
This show has been has been showing up on my recommended watching on Netflix for quite a while now and one evening my husband and I jumped in. And we have pretty watched nothing else since then. It scratches both my itches for crime shows and shows with cranky old men.
Our new storm doors
We purchased them months ago and they have been hanging out in the garage patiently waiting for Jesse’s contractor uncle to put them in for us. (Our house is kinda wonky so we didn’t want to try it on our own). They are pretty mid-list as far as storm door goes, but they are leaps and bounds above the old ones, one of which had a large gap where wasps like to come in and buzz around the kitchen (the other was probably 40 years old).
Pop-Up Plant Cages
Our chickens is free range. So I protect my gardens from their scratching with fencing (which works great). When I am planting individual plants, like perennials in a bed I am establishing, things go a little haywire. The internet tells you to surround your plants with rocks, but if the girls are really tenacious (or just assholes) this only works half the time. In comes these pop-up accelerators. Not only can the chickens get no where near the plants it is a little hotbox so the plants inside got a huge jump early this spring.
