During my work day, I can spend hours alone. To while away the hours I spend my days listening to audiobooks and podcasts. Some days , depending on my work load and what I have going on that particular day, I listen all day long.
To keep things interesting, I listen to a wide range of podcasts. Everything from food to pop culture, about 50 in total. There is a handful that make my day when a new episode downloads. These are my favorites.
Awesome Etiquette // Two of Emily Post’s great-great-grandchildren discuss all aspects of modern and traditional etiquette.
Book Riot // News and interesting tidbits from the book and publishing industry with a funny (and sometimes ranty) twist.
Astonishing Legends // Bi-weekly stories of the unexplained and unusual: ghosts, Amelia Earhart, and strange personal stories.
Invisibilia // This new NPR podcast deals with the invisible things that effect human behavior in the storytelling vein of This American Life.
The Truth // Short stories told with a full cast of characters. Sometimes funny, usually dark and always enjoyable.
Reading Lives // Interviews with authors and other bookish folk about the books and the people that made them life-long readers.
Nerdette // The hosts call their podcast a ‘safe space for nerding out about all the things you’re watching, reading, listening to and encountering IRL.’ Plus great info about lady nerds of history.
Books on the Nightstand // The granddaddy of book podcasts with 315 episodes (and counting) with two veterans from the industry.
